News Corp Australia is offering an exciting opportunity for a Reporter for The Sunday Telegraph living and working in Sydney. We are seeking a passionate journalist who thrives on driving their own ideas for engaging digital content and has a genuine interest in advocating for Sydney and New South Wales. In this role, there is the opportunity to chase breaking news stories as well as write longer form news stories and analysis.
About the role:
1. Identify and develop stories across a range of topics relevant and engaging for Sydney and NSW, and produce engaging, accurate, and clean copy.
2. Drive subscription growth for the print and digital masthead and increase traffic to the website.
3. Lead and inspire digital content through high-quality story development.
4. Use data analytics to find new trends and track online content performance, leveraging this information to craft stories that inspire, inform, and engage the community.
5. Build genuine connections with local businesses, sports teams, political leaders, families, and citizens.
6. Utilize various storytelling tools available in digital media, such as interactives, videos, and graphics.
Who are you?
1. Previous writing and newsroom experience is preferred, with a Tuesday to Saturday working week.
2. Ideally, you have a network within the local community and are currently living or willing to live in Sydney.
3. Excellent interviewing skills and a natural curiosity to discover impactful stories.
4. Attention to detail with excellent spelling and grammar.
5. Experience with SEO and social media is advantageous.
6. Passionate about advocating for and representing the local community.
