3rd or 4th Year Apprentice Diesel Fitter
Temporary Full-Time | Gladstone, QLD
Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) is seeking multiple motivated 3rd or 4th year Apprentice Diesel Fitters to join our Asset Management team. This is a great opportunity to continue your apprenticeship in a diverse, safety-focused heavy industrial environment while gaining exposure to a wide range of mobile plant and port infrastructure.
About the Role
As a senior apprentice, you will work alongside experienced Diesel Fitters to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of GPC's diesel-powered plant and equipment. You will continue progressing toward completion of your Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology, while developing strong hands-on skills and trade knowledge in a real-world port environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist qualified Diesel Fitters with maintenance, servicing, and repair of mobile plant and equipment
* Perform routine servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance
* Support breakdown response, fault finding, and repairs
* Follow safe work practices, conduct risk assessments, and comply with all safety procedures
* Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation
* Comply with GPC's environmental policies and sustainability commitments
* Model GPC's values and Code of Conduct at all times
What We're Looking For
* Currently enrolled as a 3rd or 4th year Apprentice Diesel Fitter
* Genuine interest in heavy diesel and mobile plant maintenance
* Strong safety focus and willingness to follow procedures
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction
* Good communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude
* Ability to manage time, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
Mandatory Requirements
* Completion of Year 10 (or TAFE equivalent) with a minimum Grade C in English and Mathematics
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
* C Class Driver's Licence (or ability to obtain - provisional accepted)
* Construction Industry White Card
* Certificate II in Engineering Pathways
