The Role
The ABC is looking for a National AI Technology Reporter to lead national coverage on artificial intelligence and related technology, breaking and developing agenda‑setting stories that reach audiences across all ABC platforms, working under the broad editorial direction of the Editor.
The Job
* Deliver trusted, audience‑focused, digital‑first journalism.
* Produce original and breaking AI stories across all ABC platforms.
* Lead coverage of breaking key stories related to AI
* Collaborate with the National Technology Reporter
* Explain complex issues clearly for radio, TV, digital, social and on‑demand.
* Proactively generate agenda‑setting stories with diverse perspectives.
* Build strong contacts within the AI sector to uncover original stories.
* Present live reports and Q&As to inform and engage audiences.
* Collaborate with the team, providing editorial leadership and mentoring.
* Ensure all work meets ABC editorial, legal and community standards.

About You
You'll have:
* Relevant qualifications or equivalent specialist AI reporting experience.
* Proven judgement reporting complex stories across TV, digital, audio and on-demand.
* Strong grasp of audience, digital and social trends for maximum engagement.
* Outstanding live presentation skills to explain complex issues clearly.
* Self-starter who breaks agenda-setting stories.
* Advanced skills producing innovative, accurate multiplatform content per editorial policies.
* Highly collaborative with strong mentoring and deadline skills.
* Passion for diverse, authentic Australian stories including CALD and Indigenous voices.
