Open Pit Mobile Equipment Trainer / Assessor
FIFO Kalgoorlie | 8-week contract | Dayshift only
We are seeking an experienced Mobile Equipment Trainer / Assessor to join our team for an 8-week project leading up to Christmas. This role will focus on assisting with machine competency assessments (VOCs) for a large intake of new operators on a client site.
The Role
- Conduct competency assessments and Verification of Competencies (VOCs) across a range of open pit equipment.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to new operators.
- Operate machines if required (e.g. hot-seat cover during crib breaks).
- Deliver high-quality training and assessment outcomes in compliance with statutory requirements.
- Dayshift only, 12-hour shifts, on an 8/6 roster.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.
- Proven experience operating large mining equipment including
- 400–800T excavators / face shovels
- Track and wheel dozers
- Graders for haul road construction and maintenance
- Haul trucks in large open pit operations
- Strong communication, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Current WA 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
- Sound knowledge of WHS (Mines) legislation and training requirements.
- Australian work rights are required for this position.
Desirable Experience
- OEM equipment experience:
- Hitachi EX5500
- Liebherr 9400
- Cat D10T / Liebherr PR776
- Cat 793F Haul Truck
- Cat M Series graders.
- Familiarity with GPS/machine guidance systems (e.g., Trimble) and fleet management systems (MineStar, Pitram, Jigsaw).
- Certificate III in Surface Extraction Operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
