WHAT YOU'LL BE DOINGDeliver a broad range of activities related to the management of the Coal Mining Industry (Long Service Leave Funding) Corporation (Coal LSL)'s investment portfolio.
You will play a key role within the wider Investments team and work collaboratively with service providers to ensure the portfolio is managed efficiently and delivers on key investment objectives.
As the Associate Portfolio Manager, you will possess an in-depth understanding of all activities involved in managing the investment portfolio and provide support to the senior members of the investment team in the completion of the day-to-day operations.
You will:
Contribute to idea generation to capture return opportunities and manage risk to ensure the Fund delivers on its objectives.Assist in monitoring and evaluating the performance and risk characteristics of the total portfolio, asset classes, and managers.Foster and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the asset consultant, custodian, investment managers and the Actuary.Produce reports for senior management, the Investment Committee (IC), and Board.Support the execution of the Investment Strategy, by assisting with operational activities such as:Portfolio rebalancingProviding instructions to the custodianCash and liquidity managementReporting and liaising with the Fund custodian, investment managers and other external service providersEnsuring compliance of major service providers to contractual reporting requirements and SLAsMonitoring responsible investment practices at external investment managersDeveloping and maintaining processes, procedures and investment documentation to ensure robust investment operationsOngoing due diligence activitiesThis is a permanent role based in Newcastle.

WHAT YOU'LL BRINGTo be successful in the role of Associate Portfolio Manager, you will be a self-starter with extensive experience in investment management or investment operations at an asset management, superannuation or insurance organisation.
Your background will demonstrate your:
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret financial data, assess cash flows and undertake performance calculations.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.Strong understanding of investment markets, operational processes, and performance measurement, with an eye for detail and ability to make sound judgement and recommendations.Ability to communicate ideas, strategies, and concepts in clear, compelling, and credible ways to stakeholders at all levels.Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).You will have a bachelor's degree in economics, finance, accounting, commerce, or equivalent.
