Senior IMS/COBOL Developer (NV1) – Federal Government Contract
Location: Canberra (ACT), Brisbane (QLD), Melbourne (VIC), Adelaide (SA)
Work Type: Contract – 12 months + extension options
Working Model: Hybrid (initial 6 weeks onsite full-time, then minimum 3 days/week onsite in any of the above locations)
We are seeking a Senior IMS/COBOL Developer (EL1 equivalent) to support a large-scale federal government program.
You will work on enterprise mainframe systems, delivering high-quality development, enhancements, and ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain COBOL applications with IMS DB/DC
* Translate business requirements into technical solutions
* Perform testing (unit, integration, regression)
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues
* Support data migration and system enhancements
* Contribute to release, deployment, and system improvements
* Provide technical guidance and support to team members
Required Skills & Experience
* Strong experience in COBOL, IMS DB/DC, JCL
* IBM mainframe environment experience
* Full SDLC experience
* Strong problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills
Mandatory Requirements
* Australian Citizen
* Must have NV1 clearance
* Must be located in one of the listed capital cities
