About the Role We are seeking Disability Support Workers to support a male client in his 20’s on the Northside of Canberra and Isabella Plains. This is an exciting opportunity to provide meaningful support to a young adult with complex needs. The client has a range of medical conditions, including: Autism Spectrum Disorder Intellectual Disability Epileptic Encephalopathy Mutation in the SYNGAP1 gene You will be supporting a client who presents with several behavioural challenges, including: Absence seizures Global developmental delay Separation anxiety Speech and language impairment Non-compliant behaviours (including resistance to support) Physical aggression In this role, you will promote the client’s independence, well-being, and dignity while supporting their daily activities and managing complex behaviours. About You To succeed in this role, you should bring the following: Experience supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, intellectual disabilities, and/or epileptic encephalopathy Experience managing challenging behaviours, including aggression and non-compliance Empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity when supporting clients with complex needs Ability to remain calm and consistent in high-pressure or unpredictable situations Experience providing personal care (including support with hygiene and other activities of daily living) Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a person-centred approach to care Flexibility and resilience, especially when dealing with behavioural challenges Essential Requirements NDIS Worker Screening Check Employee Working With Vulnerable People Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certificates Valid Australian Driver’s Licence and a reliable, comprehensively insured car At least Certificate III in Disability, Individual Support, or an equivalent qualification Minimum 2 years’ experience in Disability Support or similar roles Willingness to undergo pre-employment checks What We Offer Supportive, inclusive, and values-driven team culture Ongoing professional development and training opportunities Opportunities to make a genuine difference in clients’ lives every day Flexible working arrangements based on client needs How to Apply If you’re a compassionate, skilled Disability Support Worker with experience in supporting individuals with complex needs, we’d love to hear from you!
