Community Mental Health Nurse

Our Core CAMHS team in Tamworth are looking to welcome a Band 5 Community Mental Health Nurse to the team.

The role involves managing a defined caseload with children/young people and their families who experience a complex range of needs and difficulties. You will be responsible for assessing, planning and providing ongoing support and therapeutic interventions to the client group/service users under the supervision of a senior team member.

You will complement the multi-disciplinary working of the team, participating in team and service development and evaluation.

This post is a development post, you will have a training plan in place to support the learning to fulfil that on a Mental Health Nurse in CAMHS. Upon completion and competency sign off the post holder will transition to the next AFC pay banding.

Main duties of the job

- The function of this development role is to develop the key core skills and competencies for a mental health nurse in CAMHS.
- Be available for individual supervision with agreed clinical and managerial supervisor in line with Trust policies.
- Take responsibility, (with supervision of senior staff, during developmental period) for the management of a caseload, which includes, specialist assessment (within service specification), care planning in conjunction with the child and family, delivering treatment interventions, evaluation of individual treatment plans.
- Responsible for participating in the setting of quality standards, including the auditing, monitoring and reviewing of practice in line with current clinical guidance practice and policy.
- Complying with relevant Trust procedures and NMC Guidance.
- Assess patient's individual care needs, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care.
- Deliver a range of interventions in accordance with the agreed plan of care and service guidance including; pharmacological and psychologically informed interventions.
- Maintain an effective reporting system by observing and reporting verbally and in writing on patient conditions.
- Utilise agreed outcome measures to review the effectiveness of interventions, as part of the care planning and evaluation process.
- Support in the provision of formal and informal training of pre/post registration students, staff members, carers and children.

Person Specification

Qualifications

- Registered Mental Health Nurse
- Understanding of a wide range of evidence based treatment/therapeutic interventions e.g. CBT, DBT

Experience

- Experience of working with children with mental health needs. Experience of working within a multi-agency framework
- Experience of formulating a child's difficulties and developing a care plan
- Experience of employing evidenced based interventions with children
- Experience of working with families
- Able to work independently, without direct supervision.
- Previous work with people with complex and high risk presentations
- Previous experience of working in a health or social care setting, either statutory or non‑statutory service
- Experience of supporting service users in a community setting
