Position Information


Bathurst High Campus, Denison College of Secondary Education, is a comprehensive high school, Years 7 to 12. It has an enrolment of 904 and is inclusive of 15% Aboriginal students, 6% NESB and a large support unit. Along with its college partner school Kelso High Campus, an innovative structure offers cross campus senior curriculum and enhanced learning opportunities for students in all years. The outstanding success of the college is attributed to a strong, collaborative culture of shared leadership, vision and understanding. Bathurst High is steeped in a rich and proud history and is highly engaged in and committed to the strong partnerships forged with the school and wider communities. Bathurst High Campus is focused on a culture of learning that caters for individual student excellence and wellbeing so that all students become good citizens and leaders. Selection Criteria


Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

* Approval to teach within the Technological and Applied Studies Key Learning Area including at least one Stage 6 course.
* Demonstrated capacity for strong educational leadership in developing and implementing innovative and differentiated teaching and learning programs to improve learning outcomes for all students, including students from low socio-economic status communities, students with disabilities, gifted and talented students and Aboriginal students.
* Demonstrated ability to build staff capacity and foster a culture of high expectations, while being a collaborative and visible leader who works effectively with the executive to implement whole school priorities.
* Demonstrated ability to lead teaching and learning within a diverse faculty, including staff with a range of experience and to effectively manage the extensive resources of the faculty to ensure equity of access.


General Selection Criteria


1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy


Conditions


An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.


Special Notes


The successful applicant will be appointed to Denison College and initially based at the Bathurst Campus.
