About our program
MARABISDA holds Delegated Authority for the Queensland Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety. This enables Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led decision-making in statutory child protection matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.
Delegated Authority supports:

· Focused on safety, connection, and reunification wherever possible
The role supports MARABISDA's Delegated Authority Manager and CEO to enact powers and function of the Qld Child Protection Act that have been delegated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people across the region.
Key responsibilities
· Engage with children, young people, families, elders, community and stakeholders to increase family safety, support and reunification options
· Practice Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family-Led Decision-Making (ATSIFLDM) that honours the family's voice, right to self-determination, and safe connection to family, community and culture
· Case management and care coordination
· Work in partnership with Child Safety
· Interpret and apply the Child Protection Act 1999, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principles, the Human Rights Act 2019, and other associated legislation
· Assessments around children and family needs, risk and safety
· All administrative and compliance tasks related to the role
To be successful in this role you must have:
· Certificate IV or higher qualification and 2 year case management experience, and working knowledge of the Child Protection Act 1999
· Experience navigating the Child Protection system and getting successful outcomes for families – culturally informed, trauma integrated, healing approach to practice which holds the safety of the child as paramount
· The ability to connect with people and able to quickly build rapport with vulnerable children and their families and Child Safety staff
· A valid Blue Card, Driver's License, Police Check and can flexibly work occasional hours outside 8:30am – 5:00pm dependent on client needs
