You are seeking an experienced and motivated Superintendent Geotechnical – Operations to lead site-based geotechnical support across underground and open pit operations. Reporting to the Underground Manager, this critical leadership role is accountable for managing geotechnical risk, implementing standards, and providing timely, practical technical guidance that supports safe and reliable production outcomes.
You will play a key role in connecting corporate geotechnical standards with site execution, working closely with senior technical leaders while leading a capable and engaged site team.
About the Role
This is a hands‐on leadership role where you will drive geotechnical performance across all active operations, ensuring robust systems, effective risk management, and high‐quality input into planning and operational decision‐making.
Key Responsibilities
Geotechnical Leadership & Risk
1. Lead geotechnical support across underground and open pit operations
2. Implement and maintain geotechnical plans, TARPs, monitoring and inspection regimes
3. Identify, manage and accelerate geotechnical risks and control failures
4. Monitor ground performance and adjust recommendations accordingly
Technical Delivery & Operations
5. Provide practical advice on design, ground support, sequencing and slope stability
6. Embed geotechnical inputs into planning cycles and operational decisions
7. Oversee monitoring systems, instrumentation and data integrity
8. Support incident investigations and approve designs and risk assessments
Leadership & Capability
9. Lead, coach and develop the site geotechnical team
10. Drive strong field presence, accountability and technical discipline
Planning, Assurance & Improvement
11. Contribute to budgets, forecasts and mine planning
12. Coordinate investigations, consultants and assurance activities
13. Drive continuous improvement in systems, reporting and workflows
Stakeholder Engagement
14. Build strong cross‐functional relationships across site and technical teams
15. Provide clear, risk‐based updates to leadership and support better decision‐making

About You
You are a technically strong and operationally focused geotechnical professional who thrives in a site‐based leadership role. You bring a practical mindset, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safe and efficient mining outcomes.
Key Requirements
22. Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering or Engineering Geology
23. Significant demonstrated experience in geotechnical roles across underground and open pit mining
24. Strong experience in ground control, slope stability, monitoring and geotechnical risk management
25. Proven ability to integrate geotechnical advice into operations
26. Demonstrated leadership experience
27. Current C Class Manual Driver's Licence
28. Postgraduate qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering, Rock Mechanics or related discipline
