This role is classified as Level 3 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement (with a base salary range of $89,140 - $96,482). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.
As a rostered shiftworker, additional shift penalty payments may apply for work performed outside of ordinary hours, including weekends and public holidays, as per the SBS Enterprise Agreement (EA). SBS may also require you to work reasonable overtime, where overtime will be paid at applicable rates in accordance with the EA.

The Role
We're looking for people who share our vision and care about showcasing our distinctive content with a strong mandate for news stories that support, celebrate and appreciate the diversity of Australia's multicultural society. SBS is an increasingly important voice in mainstream media, as Australia's multilingual broadcasting service and working in tandem with NITV, the national Indigenous broadcaster.
* Producing English news, features and interviews for audio including assigning, writing, subbing and distributing as required.
* Creating and assigning stories for our audio language teams which have relevance to a wide range of communities, offering a broad content selection including but not limited to finance, health, science and technology
* Ensure that our audio language teams are provided with timely coverage of major national and international news and current affairs and stories which reflect the SBS Charter.
* Write, produce and present content in English for various digital platforms
* Repurpose news and features into digital text stories
* Backfill for Audio producer when required
* Develop management skills
About you
Ideally, you will be:
* a confident and creative Journalist with a strong eye for detail and the angles that matter to our audience. You'll thrive on covering breaking news and be able to work with the Audio Team Leads to time manage other projects.
* committed to maintaining our editorial integrity and high standards of accuracy. You have an understanding of media law, as well as the importance of balance and impartiality in reporting.
* keenly interested in what's happening in the world to develop storytelling in new and innovative ways to reach and engage wider audiences.
* passionate about providing news for all Australians
* keen to jump at the chance to tell stories that matter and seek to bring forward unreported stories.
* hungry to stay across new developments and trends in journalism and digital media.
