Job Summary:

About the Role:
The software engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, maintaining, and performing quality control of software for scientific/engineering applications. This includes defining system and software requirements and obtaining customer approval, analyzing customer requirements and translating them into designs, using Agile development tools like Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git for project management and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, develop, implement, maintain, and perform quality control of software for scientific/engineering applications.
2. Define system and software requirements and obtain customer approval.
3. Analyze customer requirements and translate them into designs.
4. Use Agile development tools like Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git for project management and collaboration.
5. Identify potential roadblocks and develop solutions, even when requirements are not well-defined.
6. Improve performance metrics through careful planning and execution.
7. Respond to and resolve software discrepancies based on documented requirements.
8. Collaborate with teams to define software requirements.
9. Create program designs and code following department standards.
10. Design, develop, test, and deploy software systems for customers.
11. Ensure software maintainability and adherence to user requirements and standards.
12. Document software product baselines and updates.
13. Explore new areas or programming techniques to deliver complete products.
14. Support on-site meetings and deliveries to customers.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
16. Must be a US or Australian citizen.
17. Must possess an active US Top Secret/SCI w/ Polygraph or AUS PV Clearance.
18. Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or related field.
19. 5+ years of experience in software development, cybersecurity, and modernization.
20. Strong knowledge of software engineering standards, specifications, and best practices.
21. Familiarity with C++, C#, Java, and Python.
22. Experience with software quality assurance, testing, and validation.
23. May require US DoD 8140 / 8570 baseline certifications based on job duties.

Note: This role is located in Alice Springs and is expected to be onsite 100%.
