Come and join our ED here in Bega – it’s great! An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified GP in Emergency Medicine to join the medical team at South East Regional Hospital in the Bega Valley, part of the Southern NSW - Coastal Network.
Where you’ll be working
Bega – 429 kilometres south of Sydney, 228 kilometres from Canberra or 174 kilometres from the NSW Snow fields. Nearby Merimbula (32 kilometres) offers a regional airport with a short 55 minute flight to Sydney and daily flights to Melbourne. With a range of quality private and public schools in the area, younger generations are also well looked after, growing up with friendly country folk and outdoor activities.

Responsibilities
- Provide medical coverage as a GP with Emergency Medicine expertise within the ED team at South East Regional Hospital.
- Contribute to patient care, management of trauma and emergency scenarios, and clinical governance in a rural hospital setting.
Selection Criteria
- Holds registration with AHPRA. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist, General Practice (FRACGP or FACRRM) or training towards specialist or additional qualifications for Emergency Medicine (such as Fellowship in General Practice or ACEM Emergency Medicine Diploma).
- Demonstrated significant senior experience relevant to Emergency Medicine practice and competence in trauma and emergency care in a rural setting.
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication using information technology and strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, provide leadership, and build collaborative partnerships.
- Commitment to patient safety and clinical governance.
- Commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and to continuing self-education, research and quality improvement.
- Commitment to NSW Health CORE values and SNSWLHD Values, with willingness to participate in an equitable medical roster including evenings, nights and weekends.
- Additional qualifications in Emergency Medicine desirable.
