The Opportunity
This is a 6-month non-ongoing APS6 contract with potential for extension. The role sits within a Finance Business Partnering team and reports to an EL1.
You will support 2 divisions across departmental finance and financial operations, gaining exposure to core Commonwealth management accounting activities.
Strong performers will be given opportunities to step up, including acting opportunities.
The Role
Key responsibilities of this role include:
* Preparing journals and undertaking month end financial activities
* Delivering analysis and Excel based financial reporting to support business areas
* Partnering with stakeholders to assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial decision making
* Supporting management accounting activities within a Commonwealth environment
* Assisting with the transition to a new financial system, including providing input into its development over the next 4 to 6 months
The Ideal Person
You are collaborative, approachable and happy natured, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships quickly. You are comfortable working in environments with manual processes and are confident using Excel for analysis and reporting.
You will have demonstrated experience in management accounting or finance business partnering within the Federal Government, and be able to hit the ground running.
You bring a strong attention to detail, enjoy working through complex financial information, and take pride in delivering accurate and timely outcomes.

Salary / Rate
* $100k - $113k + 15.4% Super
