About the Position

We are looking to welcome either a casual or part-time Residential Support Worker to our Family Reunification House in Cairns Assist with the day-to-day household duties while creating a safe and nurturing home environment for our kids. Provide warmth and care, including emotional, physical, cultural and spiritual support, and help develop positive behaviour management strategies for children who have been subjected to trauma.

* Level 2 SCHCADS Award.
* Salary range: $43.23 – $47.16 per hour (casual rate) + Superannuation.
* Casual or Part-time, Government funded position until 31 December 2027 with possible extension.

Key Responsibilities:

* Work collaboratively and under the leadership of the House Supervisor and Team Leader to undertake the day-to-day household duties, property and grounds maintenance, cleaning, and shopping.
* Providing a home environment for the children in the Family Reunification House (FRH) by looking after their emotional, physical, cultural, relational and spiritual needs, fostering self-esteem and individual identity by assisting the children to create their own personalised space.
* Provide effective support to children and young people and in collaboration with the Team Leader and House Supervisors, assist the children and young people to develop positive behaviour management strategies.
* Create, in conjunction with other residential workers, a warm, structured, secure environment and maintain an accepting and supportive relationship with family and community contacts of each young person.

About You

* Hold or be completing relevant qualifications: Degree in Community Services or Certificate IV in Child Youth & Family Intervention (outlined in the Strengthening the Queensland Residential Care Workforce – Minimum Qualification Standards Information Sheet).
* Hold the Hope & Healing Foundations Framework
* Demonstrated ability to assist in the running of a busy household.
* Demonstrated skill, ability and experience in caring for children.
* Ability to work as part of a coordinated team.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality about our work with children and
* A good understanding of Indigenous

Other Requirements

* Eligibility for a Working with Children Check or professional exemption.
* Current driver's licence.
* Legal ability to work in Australia (proof of eligibility required).
