The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in payroll, responsible for developing Payroll Officers with 3-4 years of experience and hiring a new Payroll Officer to become the future 2IC.

NUTS & BOLTS:
* Develop and deliver effective payroll strategies aligning with stakeholder needs, covering timekeeping, payroll, payments, tax, superannuation, and payroll accounting/GL integration
* Manage end-of-month payroll processes
* Continuously review and improve payroll processes, challenging assumptions and identifying trends
* Implement internal controls and efficiency improvements
* Establish KPIs and best practices
* Lead and develop a capable payroll team fostering a culture of continuous improvement
* Develop payroll risk and crisis management strategies
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders through negotiation, collaboration, and change management
* Manage relationships with external payroll vendors
* Conduct root cause analysis for payroll issues
* Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
* Analyze company policies and regulations affecting payroll processing
* Oversee payroll-related interfaces with finance and accounting systems
* Collaborate on employee benefits, remuneration, and acquisitions/divestitures
* Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee data
* Lead the team to deliver exceptional customer service
* Drive payroll-related projects
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
* Minimum 10 years in payroll management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
* Experience managing teams
* Experience with weekly payroll processing
* Background in complex payroll environments such as Manufacturing, Construction, Retail, FMCG, etc., with knowledge of multiple award interpretations
* Experience with T&A systems, preferably Kronos or similar
* Proven project management and system implementation experience
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Proactive, resilient, and capable of taking charge with proven leadership abilities
* Excellent communication skills
* Passionate about mentoring and developing team members
