St Mary's Catholic Parish, Maclean, is seeking interest for a permanent, part-time position as Parish Secretary. The parish serves the growing towns of Maclean, Yamba, Iluka and surrounds. The appointee will support the pastoral, liturgical and community activities of the parish and assist the Parish Priest by ensuring the smooth running of the parish office.
What you'll be doing
* Actively supporting the mission of the Catholic Church
* Be the first point of contact for enquiries, including providing advice and information on Catholic sacraments
* Support the Parish Priest in all areas of parish administration and manage the day-to-day operation of the Parish Office
* Prepare the Parish Bulletin and other parish communications
* Manage the financial administration of the parish, including accounts and banking
* Collate and provide information to the parish councils to support their activities
* Increase and maintain a social media and community presence for the parish
What we are looking for (selection criteria)
* Knowledge of and/or connection with the Catholic Church, including understanding of faith practices and sacraments
* Substantial administration experience and/or relevant qualifications, with the ability to work independently
* Experience in financial administration and secretarial tasks, such as drafting correspondence, minutes, diary management, record management and accounts payable/receivable
* Excellent interpersonal skills with an established connection to the local Catholic schools or community, or proven ability to develop strong relationships within a community-focused or faith-based organisation
* Ability to engage the community through social media and other platforms
Salary and Hours of Work
The successful applicant can negotiate set hours and days of work over Tuesdays to Fridays (between 10-15 hours/week). We encourage applications from parents, carers and those stepping down from the full-time workforce.
The hourly rate will be between $30.00 and $32.45 per hour plus superannuation. As a permanent, part-time role, this position includes annual leave and other paid leave entitlements.
