Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Registration Clerk to join our team at the Central Jersey Medical Center. As a Federally Qualified Health Center with locations in Perth Amboy and Newark, NJ, we provide comprehensive healthcare services to our community.
Main Responsibilities
* Patient Scheduling: Coordinate and reschedule patient appointments, ensuring timely and efficient scheduling.
* Patient Greeting: Welcome patients in a prompt, pleasant, and helpful manner, setting the tone for their visit.
* Schedule Management: Maintain and update provider schedules, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
* Telephone Management: Answer phone calls, screen inquiries, and provide information as needed, demonstrating exceptional communication skills.
* Appointment Confirmation: Contact patients to confirm appointments, reducing no-shows and improving patient satisfaction.
* Chart Preparation: Assemble patients' charts and create new charts for all new patients, ensuring accurate and complete documentation.
* Demographic and Insurance Information: Conduct personal interviews to obtain required demographic and insurance information, entering data into the computer system.
* Legal Consents and Insurance Forms: Obtain required signatures on legal consents and insurance forms, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to regulations.
* Coverage Verification: Contact insurers to verify coverage and ensure that we are the primary care provider, where necessary.
* Claim Classification: Make adjustments to the computer classification of claims to accurately reflect expected pay sources.
* Patient Inquiries: Answer patient inquiries regarding regulations and services, referring complex issues to appropriate personnel or departments.
* Exit Billing: Perform exit billing and discuss patient account balances with responsible parties, ensuring clear and concise communication.
* Cash Collections: Manage daily cash collections, maintaining accurate records and handling transactions efficiently.
* Uncompensated Care Applications: Maintain a daily log of uncompensated care applications and other state and local governmental applications, ensuring compliance with regulations.
* Ancillary Data Entry: Input data into the ancillary database, maintaining accurate and up-to-date information.
* Encounter Collection: Collect and batch daily encounters, streamlining clinical workflows.

* Linguistic Proficiency: Spanish-speaking preferable, but not required, promoting diversity and inclusivity within our organization.
Training and Experience: A minimum of two (2) years or more experience in a medical office support setting is required. Equivalent combinations of experience and training providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
