Energy Analyst Location: Bentley, WA | Newly created role Work Type: Full Time | Permanent opportunity Turn complex energy data into insights In this newly created role of Energy Analyst your modelling and insights will directly influence decarbonisation outcomes, infrastructure investment and system resilience.
You'll play a critical role in evolving Horizon Power's Demand and Energy forecasting capability.
Your work will underpin key business decisions - from renewable integration and network planning to government reporting and long-term system resilience.
This role is ideal for a curious, technically strong analyst who enjoys working with complex data sets and wants their work to have real-world impact.
What You'll Be Doing
• Assist Senior Energy Analyst to support and enhance large scale Demand Energy forecasting models using advanced analytics.
• Analyse, cleanse and integrate large and diverse datasets (AMI, SCADA, weather, solar, EVs, BESS).
• Translate technical insights into clear, compelling visualisations and reports.
• Researching and applying emerging forecasting methodologies across renewables, batteries, EVs and new technologies.
• Collaborating closely with internal teams and external bodies to support energy planning and decarbonisation initiatives.
• Provide analytical expertise to support strategic initiatives within the Energy Planning team as needed.
What You'll Bring A curious, problem-solving mindset with the ability to make sense of complex information.
• Extensive experience analysing and manipulating large datasets in a commercial or technical environment.
• Capability in modern analytics and platforms e.g. Python, R, SQL, Power BI, Excel, Cloud computation e.g. AWS.
• Demonstrable experience in the research of forecast methodologies.
• Knowledge of financial analysis evaluation principles.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to present insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related discipline.
