School logo This is a permanent part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 4, 2025 Wembley Downs Primary School (PS) is an Independent Public School within the Churchlands Network of Public Schools. Our school has a feeling of community support and involvement with many parents being actively involved in school activities and the education of their children; it has often been likened to a 'country school in the city'.

Our grounds are characterised by the number of large trees providing both shade and a basis for imaginative play. The original 1950s buildings provide an enclosed, secure feeling whilst our newer facilities, including a multi-purpose undercover assembly area, Early Childhood Centres and Library, assist in delivering our education programs.

The Role

The successful applicant will work to provide gardening, grounds and facility management to ensure a safe and clean school environment. You ideally will maintain and present the school grounds and gardens in an attractive, clean and tidy condition, and provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management. The successful applicant would perform minor repairs and maintenance as requested, as well as other Gardener - Handyperson duties in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines.

The successful applicant should display effective communication skills, be able to develop and maintain valuable working relationships with staff and external stakeholders and ideally be able to work unsupervised, with the ability to identify and recognise work that is required to be completed. You should also be well organised, have attention to detail, a positive outlook and be a team player.

Eligibility

- obtain a valid Working With Children Check.
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
