The CSA Mine is located in Cobar NSW and is Australia's highest-grade copper mine.
We are located 11 kilometres north-west of Cobar, central western New South Wales. At 1.9 kilometres deep, it is one of Australia's deepest underground mines.
Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. In Australia, Harmony owns the high-grade CSA copper mine in Cobar, NSW and is currently preparing to progress the Execution Phase of the Eva Copper Mine Project in QLD. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.
About the Role:
* We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team. You will play a key role in managing, executing, and controlling the mine's mechanical infrastructure, supporting both operational efficiency and capital projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage mechanical infrastructure, ensuring no adverse impact on processing plant or underground operations.
* Supervise third-party engineering design personnel and ensure designs conform to Australian Standards.
* Develop and maintain the Mechanical Engineering Control Plan (MECP).
* Provide on-the-job engineering support for maintenance teams, including fieldwork.
* Actively participate in risk assessments, HAZAN, and HAZOPS processes.
* Contribute to plant inspections, maintenance activities, and shutdowns.
* Establish commissioning processes, checklists, and follow-up punch lists.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent.
* RIIRIS301D - Apply Risk Management Processes certification.
* Extensive experience in shaft hoisting design, planning, and execution, including contractor management.
* Experience with shaft crushing and hoisting systems construction projects in a senior role.
* Familiarity with Australian Standards and mechanical design of materials handling systems.
