Thursday Island - Apprentice Electrician

Kickstart your career as an Apprentice Electrician and join our Thursday Island, FNQ team either as a school-based or full-time apprentice. QBuild work goes beyond a job, it's about supporting local communities. As an apprentice with QBuild, you have the opportunity to help people all over Queensland and explore your career interests after completing your apprenticeship. There is a range of projects including housing, hospitals and ambulance stations.

Our structured apprenticeship program offers on‑the‑job training with qualified tradespeople, off‑the‑job learning from registered training organisations, and the choice of a school‑based or full‑time apprenticeship. Your progress will be assessed against competency standards, and upon successfully demonstrating competence you will earn a recognised trade qualification, preparing you for a successful career.

* Apprenticeship Qualification – Certificate III in Electrotechnology

This is a great opportunity to work and learn with QBuild, the designated builder for the Queensland Government. We provide a wide range of services, from constructing new buildings to upgrading and renovating existing ones. We also assist in rapid responses to disasters and hazards to safeguard Queenslanders. Skills and Responsibilities

* Understand and carry out manual work, technical information and use equipment
* Adhere to safety protocols, follow procedures, use protective equipment and maintain a safe work environment
* Demonstrate respect for others and carefully plan work to achieve results
* Communicate clearly, listen attentively, ask questions and work collaboratively


What We Look For

* Be 15 years of age at commencement (18 or turning 18 are preferred due to occasional overnight travel, unless you are a school‑based apprentice and not required to travel until full‑time)
* Be eligible to work in Australia (permanent residency)
* Have completed Year 10 with a pass in Maths and English
* Be able to transport yourself and your tools to work/training sites (a driver's license is not mandatory)
* Be willing to obtain a Construction Industry White Card before starting
