About the Role ConnectSydney, a dynamic joint venture between Service Stream, Boral and Johnson Controls, delivers the Sydney Road Assets Performance Contract for the Harbour Zone in metropolitan Sydney. We are presently seeking a talented, motivated, and driven individual to join a well established Environmental Management Team under Network Assurance within ConnectSydney. The Environmental Advisor will be responsible for preparing Environmental Assessment documentation to meet legislative and governmental requirements and providing environmental advice and support as part of business operations for a diverse range of projects. This role will also extend to the undertaking of site monitoring activities to validate environmental safeguards at project sites and working closely in collaboration with each of the Business Portfolios and ConnectSydney partners and external stakeholders in realising environmental management best practice outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preparation of Environmental Assessment documentation to support the delivery of construction and maintenance works.
2. Provision of environmental advice and support to various Business Portfolios.
3. Liaison and interface with the TfNSW Environmental staff, specialist consultants and other government agencies regarding compliance and assessment documentation.
4. Development of Environmental Work Method Statements in conjunction with Project Engineers and Site Supervisors.
5. Assistance in the development of Construction Environmental Management Plans.
6. Conduct environmental monitoring activities to facilitate environmental safeguards for construction and maintenance works.
7. Raising incidents and managing nonconformances where required.
8. Carrying out incident investigations where required.
9. Active participation in environmental risk management needs for various Projects.
10. Assistance in the preparation of monthly Environment reports.
11. Delivery of environmental topics as part of toolbox talks and pre-work briefings.
12. Participation and assistance in compliance audit activities.
About You
13. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning or Environmental Management.
14. Experience as an Environmental Advisor or similar role including an understanding of the construction industry.
15. Minimum of 2 years experience in a role working in preparing and assessing Environmental Assessments.
16. Proven experience with working with Transport for New South Wales Environmental team is desirable.
17. A working understanding of AS/NZS ISO14001 and its requirements is desirable.
18. Proven experience working with Project Engineers and Supervisors within a construction or operational industry environment is desirable.
19. Working understanding of TfNSW Specification G36 is desirable.
20. Experience and/or knowledge of the civil construction projects industry is desirable.
