Job Title: Enterprise Technology Strategist
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Technology Strategist to join our team. As a key member of our technology organization, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing architecture deliverables for programs and projects.
Your primary responsibility will be to develop all architecture deliverables required by programs and projects, including solution architecture documents, as part of the enterprise and line-of-business blueprinting, road-mapping, and solution delivery activities.
You will ensure that these deliverables align with the overall technology strategy, blueprints and roadmaps, while addressing the business and customer requirements of a number of projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop potential solutions for business problems using existing systems, new applications or custom developed capabilities as appropriate.
* Understand the alignment to architectural principles, standards, tooling, strategy, process and roadmaps.
* Advocate and drive a focus on customer needs and improving the customer experience.
* Perform technical evaluation of requirements and assessments for RFI, RFP and Proof of concepts.
* Develop a preliminary solution architecture view, with context and key inputs during project delivery evaluation phase.
* Understand the architectural decisions that need to be made, risks and issues, and articulate these clearly during governance boards.
* Identify a variety of solution options, understanding the concepts of minimum viable product, through to a perfect solution, and can pragmatically argue and defend positions along that spectrum.
* Can operate in both agile and waterfall delivery modes comfortably.
* Ensure that projects are aligned with broader enterprise-wide strategy and architecture to ensure high levels of cohesion, consistency and reuse across the enterprise.
* Participate as a member of the architecture community in architecture process, working groups, council and governance meetings, as well as all enterprise-wide technology strategy activities as needed from time to time.
Evaluation and Delivery Phases
During the Evaluation phase, the architect provides assistance to assess viability and cost of potential solutions. The role is part of the virtual team addressing these initiatives and provides technical advice on:
* Potential solutions based on existing systems, packages or custom developed solutions as appropriate.
* Integration with existing systems solutions using established integration patterns.
* Alignment of architectural standards and strategies.
* Technical evaluation requirements and assessments for RFPs, RFIs and proofs of concept.
* Develop the Preliminary Solution Architecture key deliverable for the Evaluation phase.
* Present the preliminary solution and any architecture decisions, risks and issues to governance boards for endorsement.
During the Deliver phase, the Architect is expected to:
* Develop the full Solution Architecture deliverable.
* Update the internal knowledge repository showing project impact against existing systems, interfaces and architecture models.
* Present the full solution and any architecture decisions, risks and issues to governance boards for endorsement.
* Provide technical assurance and architectural assistance to the service provider selected for project delivery.
* Review other project deliverables such as Detailed Design documents, Interface Specifications, Test Strategy, etc.
* Assist with resolution of architecture and technical issues during the project.
The Enterprise Technology Strategist will also be part of the broader Architecture team and provide consulting input into solutions if they have expertise, as well as peer review other solution architecture artefacts and deliverables.
