About the Business Unit Corrections Victoria's purpose is to enhance community safety through the operation of safe and humane community corrections, adult prison and post-sentence systems that supports reducing reoffending by delivering on the fundamentals of good order and control in prisons, a professional and skilled workforce, case management and programs and services that address the root causes of offending behaviour. Policy, Strategy and System Outcomes is responsible for policy reform, legal policy advice, leading cabinet and budget submissions, system integration and governance and coordination activities on behalf of Corrections Victoria. The Policy Strategy and System Outcomes team's functions ultimately support community corrections, adult prisons and Victoria's post sentence scheme to achieve safe and humane operations and enhance community safety. About the Role Some of your duties will include: Provide expert, authoritative and timely policy advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative and evidence-based options and solutions to highly complex and sensitive issues. Liaise closely with central agencies and Ministers to progress budget processes, policy and legislative reform. Provide leadership and influence policy making within DJCS and across the rest of the Victorian government to deliver on government and departmental priorities and support improved outcomes for people coming into contact with the justice system. Identify and evaluate emerging state-wide and national issues relating to corrections in Victoria and other jurisdictions that impact on Victoria's corrections system and initiate policy and programs, present options and recommendations to the Minister, departmental executives, and internal and external committees. Manage change associated with complex policy reforms and continuously drive improvement processes within the business area. Lead and oversee critical stakeholder engagement in relation to highly complex issues and change agendas and provide persuasive advice to inform and influence stakeholders at senior levels across government and non-government sectors. About you To be successful in this role, you will have: Proven track record in leading policy development and managing projects that reflect operational requirements and that deliver on improved outcomes. Significant experience in managing projects and influencing policy development. A proven track record in developing innovative solutions and strategies to complex problems through the application of conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills. Extensive management experience and significant record of achievement in the development, implementation and ongoing management of strategic policy and major related projects. Highly developed relationship building and stakeholder management skills. Qualifications/ Requirements A tertiary qualification in a relevant field is highly desirable.
