We are partnering with a leading laboratory services organisation that plays a vital role in the development of pharmaceutical and medical device products. An exciting permanent opportunity is now available for an experienced Laboratory Manager to join the team and take responsibility for day-to-day laboratory operations, with a particular focus on optimising workflows.
In this role, you will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and lead a multidisciplinary team of approximately twenty staff, including four direct reports across Scientific Affairs, Special Projects, and Specimen Reception.
As Laboratory Manager, your core responsibilities will include:
* Leading laboratory operations across specimen handling, scientific affairs, and special projects
* Improving turnaround times and workflow efficiency within the specimen reception function
* Fostering a motivated, accountable, and engaged team culture
* Driving continuous improvement across systems, standard operating procedures, and training programmes
* Coordinating any testing services outsourced to external laboratories
* Supporting strategic business objectives through timely reporting and insights to senior leadership
* Ensuring full compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements (NATA, GCP, ISO 10725, GCLP)
* Being available for client enquiries and regulatory inspections
* Promoting a collaborative and solutions-focused working environment across all departments

The key selection criteria for the role include:
* A tertiary qualification in science, medical laboratory science, or a related discipline
* Substantial experience in managing a technical or laboratory team within the pharmaceutical, medical device, pathology, or clinical laboratory sectors.
* Demonstrated ability to lead change and enhance engagement across diverse and evolving teams
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a commitment to service delivery and quality outcomes
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence in engaging stakeholders from laboratory staff to executive leadership
