About the role
The position will assist the Faculty Leader – Science and the Science Laboratory Technician as well as teaching staff to deliver effective practical science activities to enable hands on and inquiry-based learning opportunities to encourage student engagement in the science curriculum.
About the contract
Part time (24 hours per week), fixed-term position for Term 3 commencing on 13 July 2026.
Qualifications
* Valid working rights within Australia.
* Committed to the goals, ethos and mission of the College as a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice Tradition.
* Current Queensland Working with Children Blue Card for paid employees before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government.
* Certificate III Laboratory Skills or Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or demonstrated relevant experience.
* Current Drivers Licence.
* First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate (desirable).
* Sound knowledge of all strands of Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Earth/Space Science, Physics, and Psychology).
* Sound knowledge of current laboratory and experimental procedures, including relevant Workplace Health and Safety, risk and chemical management systems.
* Experience in a similar role in a secondary school, supporting teachers in a classroom setting, whilst displaying respect, patience and empathy for students.
* Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
* Administrative and accurate data entry skills including demonstrated experience using the Microsoft Office suite of programs (particularly Word and Excel) and information management systems.
* Interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to interact positively with a wide range of stakeholders including, students, staff, and the wider community.
* Organisational and time management skills, with the ability to plan ahead and prioritise in order to meet competing deadlines.
* Ability to work autonomously, as well as contribute towards a team environment.
