First Aid is staffed by School Nurses and caters for all students, staff, and visitors. The Junior School Nurse is responsible for the provision of First Aid services and health information within the Junior School, Kew Campus.
At Carey, first aid involves providing prompt, supportive care when someone becomes unwell or injured at School. The goal is to help them feel safe, reduce discomfort, and prevent their condition from worsening; injured or ill people are transferred to offsite care as soon as possible.
This position reports to the First Aid Manager and has key contact with the Deputy Head of Junior School - Welling & Community. The position has medical health and wellbeing, risk assessment and administrative components. The School Nurse requires the ability to develop and maintain relationships to ensure positive collaboration across the team while delivering the best possible service for the Carey Community.
This position is a two-year contract commencing January ****. The part-time role is 0.53FTE and required 10am - 2pm, Monday - Friday during term-time (39 weeks).
Key Duties
Conducting initial assessments and intake for those using First Aid in Junior School
Administering medication
Ensuring first aid facilities and supplies well maintained
The Person
To be successful in this position, you will have:
Current, unrestricted AHPRA registration
First Aid, CPR & Anaphylaxis certificate (or willing to obtain)
Registered Anaphylaxis verifier ******VIC)
Comfortable in administering intranasal midazolam (desirable)
Diabetes in Schools - Level 1 & 2 (desirable or willing to obtain)
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Understanding of OH&S in a school setting
A valid Employee Working with Children Check is a requirement of employment for this position.
