This is a unique opportunity to help shape a new, high-quality early learning service — one that makes a lasting difference for children, families, and educators.
About the Role As the Assistant Centre Director (2IC), you'll play a key leadership role supporting the Centre Director to ensure the smooth, high-quality operation of our service. You'll also have the opportunity to step into the Centre Director position during maternity leave (up to 12+ months), providing consistent leadership and continuity for the team, children, and families.
Your Responsibilities
* Support the Centre Director with daily operations, compliance, and staff leadership.
* Lead confidently in the Centre Director's absence, including stepping into the Centre Director role for an extended period during maternity leave (up to 12+ months).
* Mentor, coach, and inspire educators to deliver engaging, play-based learning programs.
* Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with families, staff, and the wider community.
* Assist with rostering, enrolments, administration, and day-to-day centre management.
* Uphold Bright Steps Academy's commitment to child safety and wellbeing, ensuring safeguarding practices are embedded in everyday operations.
About You
You're an enthusiastic and dedicated early childhood professional with proven leadership experience who is ready to step up and take on a meaningful leadership challenge in a new and supportive environment. You lead by example, communicate clearly, and enjoy supporting others to thrive—while maintaining high standards of care, compliance, and learning outcomes.
What You'll Bring
* Diploma or higher qualification in Early Childhood Education (ACECQA approved).
* Experience in a senior educator or leadership role (or readiness to step into one).
* Strong understanding of NQF, EYLF, and compliance standards.
* Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
* A genuine passion for building positive, inclusive, and high-quality early learning environments.
Why Join Bright Steps Academy?
* Above-award salary recognising your experience and leadership.
* Relocation package available for candidates moving to Horsham
* 50% off childcare gap fees for your children or grandchildren.
* Extra leave days – your birthday and one wellbeing day each year.
* Professional development and clear career pathways.
* Wellbeing support through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
* 10% Approved Workers Retention Grant (eligibility applies).
* A supportive, values-driven culture that celebrates educators and innovation.
