Overview
Travel Insider is the digital arm of Qantas magazine. An experienced digital editor is sought for a 12 month fixed term contract. The role focuses on SEO/AEO best practice, data-driven content concepts, and producing innovative content across the Travel Insider website and other platforms.
Reporting to the Travel Insider Managing Editor, the successful applicant will ensure content is strategic, engaging and of high quality, capable of inspiring travel. A track record in ideation, writing and editing across editorial and native content is essential, with an understanding of travel and the pace of a fast-paced editorial environment.
Duties and responsibilities
- Conceptualise, create and edit on-brand, high-quality content while maintaining speed.
- Collaborate with the Travel Insider Managing Editor to align content with Qantas objectives.
- Contribute to the multichannel content strategy to drive traffic growth against targets.
- Track search trends and data (e.g., SEMRush) to inform data-driven content decisions and KPIs.
- Optimise content for SEO/AEO, including alt tags, captions, structure, and user experience across web, social, mobile and video.
- Monitor site performance and adjust strategy as needed.
- Stay updated on international best practices in content strategy and deployment.
- Assist in managing the editorial budget to ensure effective spend.
- Drive new ideas and innovation.
Who are you? / Qualifications
- 3-5 years of proven experience as a digital producer working in a CMS and across social platforms.
- Relevant tertiary degree.
- Strong understanding of SEO, Adobe/Google Analytics and CMS.
- Excellent writing, editing and subbing skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Commercial skills in helping to drive revenue growth.
- Exemplary client service and a willingness to exceed client expectations.
- Able to present trends and insights in a meaningful and objective way.
- Deep digital experience and strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to EDM production, SEO and AEO.
