Network Technical Specialist – 24x7 Shift
Job Summary
This is a fantastic opportunity for an NV1 cleared Network Engineer, with some existing experience, or those eager to launch their career in Network Engineering at Telstra. You’ll gain and expand your hands-on experience supporting Telstra’s Defence customers and networks, learning from real-world challenges and working with experienced professionals. Job Description
This permanent Defence role is based onsite in Canberra (preferred), Sydney, or Melbourne. You’ll work on a rotating 24x7 shift roster and you are required to work all shifts onsite.
Active NV1 clearance is essential, and bonus points for NV2 clearance.

What you’ll do
* Investigate and help resolve network incidents and alarms.
* Assist with network changes following customer and management processes.
* Keep accurate records and support service reporting.
* Join incident calls and provide technical updates.
* Follow change, incident, and problem management guidelines.
* Carry out standard operational tasks and maintenance.
About you
* Ideally 2 years hands on experience in Network Engineering.
* Active NV1 security clearance (mandatory), NV2 preferred.
* Understanding of data communications, routing, switching, and telecommunications.
* Familiarity with VLANs, Spanning-Tree, wireless technologies, and WAN/BAN routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).
* CCNA or equivalent certification (preferred).
* Exposure to Juniper, Cisco, Nortel, or Avaya networking products.
* ITIL Foundation or Practitioner certification (desirable).
* Defence or enterprise ICT environment experience (desirable).
Candidates must hold a current Defence clearance to be considered. This role will require you to hold and maintain an minimum Australian Government NV1 Security Clearance.
