Position Overview
An experienced gardener is sought for the historic Nindooinbah Homestead in Beaudesert.
Accomodation is available in the renovated Nindooinbah Gate House for people who need to relocate to the district, if required.
The homestead is surrounded by carefully irrigated and landscaped gardens, which have been revitalized in recent years. The selected candidate will be entrusted with maintaining and enhancing these grounds, continuing the legacy of excellence established here.
The ideal applicant will demonstrate passion for horticulture, extensive experience, self-motivation, independence, and the ability to take initiative in all assigned tasks.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain, regenerate, and develop the grounds, gardens, and associated irrigation systems.
* Experience with Rain Bird irrigation systems is required for proper maintenance and operation.
* Oversee care for the bush house, prune trees, and tend to garden beds, annual beds, and turfed areas utilizing appropriate tools, horticultural chemicals and machinery.
* Perform all duties necessary to uphold landscaping and lawn standards, including general gardening, hedging, and weed eradication.
* Ensure the proper care and maintenance of horticultural and lawn care equipment.
* Contribute to future garden design and planning.
Qualifications and Requirements
* A minimum of five years' experience and a Certificate III in Horticulture, or a higher qualification obtained through recognized training and professional experience.
* Demonstrated ability in maintaining large private gardens, including establishing annual display beds, tree care, garden bed planting, and lawn maintenance.
* Basic/General level ChemCert certification is required for chemical handling and application responsibilities.
* Proficiency in the use and maintenance of a wide variety of plant and equipment relevant to the position.
* Capacity to work autonomously and willingness to undertake on-call or caretaking duties as required.
* A valid car (C class) driver's licence is required.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to convey professional expertise clearly and confidently within a small team and to property owners.
Additional Information
The successful candidate will have access to all required plant and equipment.
