Primary Objective
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for developing and nurturing new business relationships with prospective customers, key decision-makers, SME clients, and large commercial accounts.
You will manage the full sales lifecycle — from initial engagement and needs analysis through to proposal development, negotiation, and contract close — with a strong focus on sustainable revenue and margin growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Maximise revenue from BDM-generated opportunities and allocated leads
* Assist senior management with the strategic management of key accounts
* Develop new customer accounts to drive revenue and gross margin growth
* Increase revenue from existing customers through expanded transport and logistics services
* Liaise with customers and manage follow-ups as required
* Achieve budgeted sales targets for revenue and gross profit
* Conduct face-to-face presentations outlining tailored transport and logistics solutions
* Prepare sales quotations and pricing proposals
* Assist in the preparation of tenders and major commercial submissions as directed by senior management
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record in generating and closing commercial B2B sales, ideally within transport, logistics, freight, or supply chain services.
You will also demonstrate:
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Sound computer literacy and CRM experience
* A customer-focused mindset with the ability to deliver end-to-end transport solutions
* Commercial acumen and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders
