As a Peer Carer Support Facilitator, you’ll use your lived experience to support carers, family members and friends of people experiencing suicidal crisis or following a suicide attempt. This is an outreach-based role where connection, empathy and trust sit at the heart of everything you do. This role is part-time (22.8 hours per week) and designed with flexibility in mind, recognising the importance of balance, sustainability and wellbeing in peer work.
Your day may include:
* Providing one-on-one peer support to carers, family members and friends through empathetic listening and shared lived experience
* Facilitating or co-facilitating group sessions that create safety, connection and understanding
* Supporting people to navigate mental health services, community supports and practical resources
* Advocating alongside carers, helping their voices be heard within the service system
* Working collaboratively with your team and partner organisations to deliver coordinated, compassionate support
* Maintaining clear, timely records using mobile and office-based systems
* Participating in team meetings, reflection and debriefing, within a supportive and values-led team
This role is ideal for someone who believes deeply in the power of peer support, values genuine relationships, and wants to be part of a recovery-oriented service that recognises carers as essential and deserving of care in their own right.
You Will Need:
* Relevant qualifications (such as a Certificate lV in Mental Health Peer Work) or commensurate experience working in a support role for people with mental health conditions.
* Lived experience of supporting someone who is or had a suicidal crisis and/or a suicide attempt.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to listen with empathy, respect and compassion
* Confidence supporting people one-on-one and, where required, in group settings
* Knowledge of local mental health, suicide prevention and community support services (or a willingness to build this knowledge)
* The ability to maintain boundaries, confidentiality and accurate records
* A collaborative, flexible approach and a genuine belief in recovery-oriented, peer-led practice
