Policy Officer * Salary: $100,894 - $114,476 (Plus Superannuation) * Fixed term role: Until 4 June 2027 * Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available) * Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available) The Role The Policy Officer researches, develops, and evaluates policies and plays a role in shaping policy by analysing issues, formulating recommendations, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure policies are effective and aligned with relevant goals. Main accountabilities: * Gathering data, analysing existing policies, identifying gaps or areas for improvement, and contributing to the implementation of policies and monitoring their effectiveness. * Drafting policy proposals, reports, and briefing papers, ensuring recommendations are evidence-based and aligned with strategic objectives. * Collaborating with stakeholders to seek input and feedback on policy proposals. The Team The position of Policy Officer forms a part of the Outdoor Recreation, Combat Sports and Strategic Policy branch within the Sport and Experience Economy group. Sport and Experience Economy (SEE) Group delivers programs and initiatives to support positive experiences and a sense of belonging through sport, tourism, events and outdoor recreation - sectors that make Victoria a recognised leader from the grassroots level to the international stage and deliver significant economic, social and health benefits for the state. About You The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience: * Policy Design and Development: Determines relevant data and evidence gathering approach; Conducts critical analysis on data and evidence collected. * Flexibility and Adaptability: Accepts changed priorities without undue discomfort. Responds quickly to changes. Comfortable working in collaboration with teams outside of own organisation. * Data Literacy: Considers data sources, collection and structure impacts in the delivery of data analysis. Generates descriptive statistics and relevant data visualisation leading to decisions under the guidance from subject matter experts.
