About the opportunity
The University of Sydney is seeking a Research Administrative Project Officer to support the expanding Cities and Planetary Health transdisciplinary research portfolio in the School of Architecture, Design and Planning (ADP) led by Professor Thomas Astell-Burt.
The role will support research projects, capacity-strengthening initiatives, coordinate operations, logistics and community-engagement activities as part of a team. In addition, this role will be expected to deliver leadership on small projects, coordination of larger projects involving many contributors and interest groups, develop and implement ethics applications, data/equipment acquisitions, and develop and execute effective communications strategies (e.g., social media, online newsletters, website updates). Good time-management and proven capacity to work effectively and collegially in a dynamic and innovative team is essential.
This role is 0.5FTE and expected to work on Camperdown Campus for most of the time to contribute to the growth of the team and the wider community in ADP.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
* perform operational project management support activities and organising of events (e.g., workshops, symposia) to contribute to the planning and establishment and success of projects
* coordinate the collation and preparation of project materials, ensuring that relevant resources and documentation are readily available for project teams
* assist in mapping key project resources required for project commencement, including technology, equipment, physical workspaces, and other necessary resources
* coordinate work stream project plans, overseeing the implementation of tasks and activities to ensure they align with overarching project objectives
* support monitoring of project activity and budgets, deliverables, and milestones, proactively identifying any issues or deviations and implementing necessary adjustments to keep the project on track
* develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and external project stakeholders, fostering effective interactions to facilitate collaboration and maintain a shared understanding of project progress
About you
* a Bachelor degree, or equivalent relevant work experience
* demonstrated experience in project management and coordination in the higher education sector
* demonstrated experience in engaging with multiple diverse internal and external stakeholders
* excellent written and verbal communication skills
* demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within and outside the University in a team to meet agreed deadlines and achieve project goals
* experience in project budgetary management, including monitoring, preparation or financial reports, and ability to identify potential financial concerns and possible solutions
* ability to facilitate project logistics, including taking charge of scheduling meetings, coordinating attendees, planning events, and securing suitable venues to ensure smooth project operations.
