Claremont Special School is seeking an experienced and innovative Head of Department – Curriculum (HOD-C) to lead curriculum development and implementation across our inclusive learning environment.
This role is pivotal in driving high-quality teaching and learning practices and pedagogies that meet the diverse needs of students with intellectual disabilities and complex learning profiles.
This is a temporary full-time position to commence from 13 July 2026 until 25 June 2027, unless otherwise determined.

About The Role
The Head of Department – Curriculum (HOD-C) will support student achievement through the implementation of impactful pedagogical practices across our learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide curriculum leadership to ensure alignment with departmental priorities and the Australian Curriculum.
* Support teachers in delivering evidence-based, differentiated programs that maximise student engagement and achievement.
* Lead school-wide initiatives in literacy, communication, and wellbeing.
* Build strong partnerships with staff, families, and community stakeholders to enhance educational outcomes.
* Manage resources effectively and contribute to strategic planning and school improvement.
Must-Have Skills And Experience
* Current Queensland teacher registration and eligibility for leadership roles.
* Demonstrated success in curriculum leadership and improving student outcomes.
* Strong knowledge of inclusive education and differentiation strategies.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Capacity to lead change and foster a collaborative team culture.
Nice-to-Have Skills And Experience
* Familiarity with assistive technology and augmentative communication.
* Understanding of Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) and wellbeing frameworks.
* Background in coaching and mentoring teachers.
