The Operating Theatres at Townsville University Hospital are seeking an experienced and client focused Clinical Nurse to join the Anaesthetics Nursing team.
This is a temporary part-time role, commencing 15/09/2025 - 08/02/2026, working 64 hours per fortnight.
Continuous shift work and rostering to the on call roster is mandatory for all staff deemed competent.
The Townsville University Operating Theatre has 15 operating theatres including a Hybrid Theatre.
About the opportunity
The purpose of the Anaesthetic Registered Nurse is to provide direct nursing care utilising clinical skills, education and support to patients/clients, anaesthetists and nursing staff within the Operating Theatre to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care. A combination of 10, 9, 8 and 6 hour shifts are rostered to ensure anaesthetic nursing coverage to all theatre lists.

The Anaesthetic team provides anaesthetic support to outlying departments including Medical Imaging, Brachytherapy, Endoscopy, Cardiac Cathlab Services, Interventional Radiology and Mental Health. The theatre complex are supported by an 18 bed Post Anaesthetic Care Unit.

Requirements:
- Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
- Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
- Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster.
- This is a VPD risk role.
