Role Description This full‑time hybrid role of Signalling Engineer – Renewals & Maintenance is based in Melbourne, VIC, with flexibility for partial work‑from‑home arrangements. The primary responsibilities include development of technical options, assessments and strategies of upgrading railway signalling systems in Victoria – understanding communications‑based train control (CBTC) solutions, ETCS, drafting technical reports, constructability options, development of scoping and planning documents, and ensuring systems meet operational and safety standards. The role entails collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support the planning, execution, and performance monitoring of transport infrastructure projects in Victoria.
Qualifications
Expertise in Signalling and Railway Signalling systems in Victoria
Understanding of the MTM network Renewals and Maintenance Requirements – Signalling
Knowledge of ETCS & Communications‑based Train Control (CBTC) technologies
Experience in Rail Transport operations and infrastructure
Strong understanding of signals and related engineering principles
Exceptional problem‑solving and analytical skills
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline
Previous experience in transport infrastructure projects is highly desirable
Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid environment and communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams
