The Australian Federal Police is seeking highly skilled and experienced professionals to fill the role of Executive Officer. This position offers a unique opportunity for individuals to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct, and the AFP Governance Instruments.
As an Executive Officer, you will be responsible for delivering critical and high-level support to the executive and across the business area. You will play a key role in aiding executives in their decision-making and administration purposes, proactively managing workflows and competing priorities.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as exceptional stakeholders' engagement skills and ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with them. They will also possess a high attention to detail and be able to manage and develop a Band 3 or Band 4 Executive Assistant.
This role requires a minimum of 2 years' experience in providing Executive support in a corporate setting, with demonstrated experience in writing reports and executive briefs. The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of project management methodology and be able to apply discretion, judgement, and initiative in all situations.
Key Responsibilities
* Research, plan, deliver, and coordinate projects as determined by the Commander/Manager;
* Proactively manage workflows, write reports, and briefs, assist with resource management, and contribute to policy development and review;
* Liaise and consult with staff across the Command to achieve divisional priorities, including responding effectively to emerging issues;
* Represent the interests of the Commander/Manager's office with key internal & external stakeholders and at various meetings;
* Develop and maintain a network of relationships across the AFP, as well as private and public sectors;
* Maintain currency in project management methodology through ongoing professional development and learning opportunities outside the formal education process;
* Apply a high level of discretion, judgement, and initiative to all situations and decision making to produce appropriate advice;
* Manage and develop a Band 3 or Band 4 Executive Assistant.
Requirements
* Must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application;
* A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one;
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in providing Executive support in a corporate setting;
* Demonstrated experience in writing reports and executive briefs;
* High level communication skills, both written and verbal;
* Exceptional stakeholders' engagement skills and ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with them;
* A high attention to details;
* For Band 7: Demonstrated political awareness or interest in current political affairs, demonstrated financial literacy or ability to understand public service budget management and reporting, and demonstrated ability to lead a team and autonomously deliver program/project outcomes.
