About The Opportunity
Join our Newcastle kitchen team as a casual or permanent part‐time cook, working four to five shifts per week. You will craft culturally‐informed, delicious meals that nourish and comfort our elders, while supporting a warm dining experience each day.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook nutritious, balanced meals tailored to elderly residents' dietary needs.
* Follow menus and individual care plans in line with aged care standards and resident preferences.
* Ensure compliance with food safety and infection control protocols (HACCP, Aged Care Quality Standards).
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment, including proper food storage, cleaning schedules and waste management.
* Contribute to a positive dining experience for residents.
* Assist with kitchen equipment upkeep and report any issues to management.
* Deliver excellent customer service, interacting courteously with residents and accommodating reasonable requests.
* Participate in continuous improvement processes to enhance Service quality.
Success Criteria / Requirements
* Food handling certificate (essential).
* Minimum 1 year experience in aged care kitchen or food handling.
* Proven knowledge of infection control and safe food handling.
* Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation.
* Cert III in Commercial Cookery (preferred).
* Flexibility to work weekdays and weekends.
