Overview
CareSong Busselton is a warm and welcoming singing group for people living with dementia and their carers. We need friendly, caring volunteers to help create an inclusive and joyful space.
Launching 3 July 2025, the group meets every Thursday afternoon from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Busselton Senior Citizens Centre (22 Peel Terrace). Singing takes place from 1:00 pm to 2:15 pm, followed by a relaxed afternoon tea until 3:00 pm.
Whether you\'re helping with set-up, joining in the singing, offering a friendly smile, or pouring the tea, your presence will help make the space inclusive and joyful.
No musical experience needed. Come weekly or fortnightly – we\'re flexible and supportive. Be part of a project that lifts hearts and builds community.
Come sing, share and support! Get in touch to join the CareSong volunteer team today.
Volunteer Roles
* Director / MusicianLead the Session, set the tone, plan the set list, coordinate the volunteer roster, and lead the group with music and energy. Basic skills on guitar, piano or similar are welcome (10 chords can go a long way). Bring cheer, guide the singing, prep light rhythm/vocal activities, and help the session flow. Stay for afternoon tea and share the joy.
* MusicianSupport the music, accompany the Director, help lead songs, or take the lead on a few. Contribute to the song list and lift the group with your instrument and/or voice. When no Director is present, you may step into their role.
* Afternoon Tea CoordinatorProvide and serve a welcoming afternoon tea. Ensure a mix of sweet, savoury, fruit and gluten-free options. Set up at 2:00 pm, pack down from 2:45 pm, and share the experience over a cup of tea and a chat.
* Admin VolunteerManage behind-the-scenes essentials: attendance, payments, badges, new member forms, and reimbursements. Ensure latecomers feel welcomed. Admins also sing and help during the session.
* Singer / ObserverWelcome people, help with books and seating, and support those who may need gentle assistance during the session. Be a friendly face, watchful eye, and a social companion—especially for people living with dementia. Share the joy of singing while ensuring everyone feels safe and included.
