Looking for a hands-on role with great work-life balance? Mackay Regional Council is hiring a Labourer – Roads & Drains to help maintain and improve vital infrastructure in our community.
About The Opportunity
As a Labourer in our Roads & Drains team, you will contribute to the maintenance and construction of roads, drainage assets, and other civil infrastructure. This role offers variety, stability, and the chance to make a real impact in the Mackay region.
Key Responsibilities
The role is hands-on and includes:
* Operating rigid motor vehicles (up to 15 tonnes) and small ride-on equipment.
* Performing maintenance and construction tasks for roads, drainage, and civil infrastructure (e.g., earthworks, concrete, pipelaying, bitumen, vegetation work).
* Daily maintenance of assigned plant and collaborating with mechanical service personnel.
* Traffic management at work sites.
* Using technology/software for work orders and task assignments.
* Completing paperwork like timesheets and performing basic numerical calculations.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
* Current General Construction Safety White Card.
* Current QLD Manual Car 'C' Class Open Driver's Licence.
* MR Truck Licence (or willingness to obtain).
* Traffic Control Ticket / TMI qualifications (or willingness to obtain).
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Commitment to safety and quality.
