As General Manager, you will translate the Corporate Plan into meaningful outcomes by leading key initiatives, capital programs and service delivery while partnering closely with Councillors and the Leadership Team to ensure strong financial sustainability. You will build a flexible, scalable operating model that leverages innovation, technology and strategic industry partnerships to deliver efficient, high-quality services aligned with the community's evolving needs.
In this forward-thinking role, you'll lead the development and implementation of Council's waste and resource recovery strategy, using co-design to engage the community and deliver environmentally and economically sustainable outcomes. You will foster strong relationships across state and federal government, regulators, industry and the community to enable Townsville's growth and ensure compliance excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

You bring deep expertise in waste and resource recovery, with a passion for sustainability and a proven ability to lead cultural change toward a zero‐waste future. Your experience managing complex projects from planning through to delivery ensures strong governance, compliance and performance outcomes.
With relevant qualifications and a track record of success in large, diverse environments, you combine technical knowledge, integrity and drive to deliver meaningful outcomes for both Council and the community.

* The Council contribution to employees' superannuation for contributing employees shall be 13.5% of the employees' ordinary time earnings subject to the employee contributing a minimum of 6% of their ordinary time earnings.
