Primary Purpose of Role
The Participation Officer - Far North & Gulf is responsible for the operational delivery of football competitions and participation programs across the Far North and Gulf Region.
Reporting to the Manager – Far North & Gulf, the role focuses on building strong relationships with affiliated clubs and local stakeholders, promoting participation growth, and ensuring programs and competitions run smoothly and professionally. A key part of this role is supporting inclusive, community-based initiatives and driving high levels of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
The Participation Officer - Far North & Gulf will be required to:
•Support the delivery of strategic outcomes for both Football Queensland and the region
•Coordinate the rollout of participation and sanctioned representative programs
* Collaborate on initiatives to grow participation in the region
* Assist in the planning and delivery of special events
* Respond to information requests from Football Queensland and Regional Committees
* Provide training and distribute key information to club and committee members
* Assist clubs with registration and competition platform support
* Manage competitions, including scheduling, match results, disciplinary processes, and appeals
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders including clubs, local government, and Far North and Gulf Region staff
* Oversee and activate programs such as:
Girls United Football (in conjunction with Women & Girls Ambassador)
Multicultural Youth & Settlement Programs (MYP & MSP)
Football in the Community Programs:
Endeavour Park events (e.g., Brisbane Roar Holiday Clinics)
Before/After School & In-School Programs
Summer 6s competitions
* Support delivery of the John Bomben Carnival
* Match Day Management for Juniors at Endeavour Park (Saturdays)
* Oversee venue cleanliness and basic facility maintenance as required
* Lead and manage the casual coaching workforce in Cairns (e.g. MiniRoos & Football in the Community programs)
Key Performance Indicators
KPIs will be defined in a Performance and Development Agreement. This will be reviewed annually and may include:
•Achievement of targets for school-based and social participation programs
* Growth in junior and women's football participation
* Community engagement outcomes (e.g., all-ability, multicultural, Indigenous groups)
* Successful delivery of leagues, tournaments, and carnivals
* Participant satisfaction (survey-based)
* Financial and participation targets for regional programs
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
•AFC C License or FA-recognised equivalent
•Experience as an FA Community Coach Educator or teacher
* Football coaching and playing experience, ideally in a regional setting
* Deep understanding of coach education systems (technical and admin)
* Experience in community and talent development programs
* Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and balance competing priorities
* Initiative and ability to work independently
* Effective verbal and written communication skills
* Strategic thinker who fosters collaboration
* High-level presentation and teaching ability
* Experience mentoring and leading coaches or technical staff
* Excellent customer service mindset
* Confidence working with administrators and volunteers
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer systems
Desirable
• Tertiary qualifications in Sports Management / Physical Education or a related field
•Experience working with volunteers
The employee will require:
•Valid Blue Card (Working with Children check)
•Current First Aid Certificate
•Valid Driver's Licence
•Legal right to work full-time in Australia.
