Where you will be workingNewmont's Cadia Valley mine operation is situated in New South Wales, 25 kilometres from Orange and 250 kilometres west of Sydney.
Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit.
The Operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.We acknowledge the Wiradjuri people, traditional custodians of the land surrounding Cadia, and proudly run an Indigenous Buddy Program to enrich the workplace experience our Indigenous employees.

The Orange region is often referred to as the gateway to Country New South Wales with acclaimed wineries, fine dining, annual festivals and charming heritage villages making for an unparalleled work-life balance.Who we're looking for Reporting to the Environment Lead, this newly created permanent position will implement environmental monitoring, documentation and assessments in adherence to internal policies, procedures and standards and within external regulatory frameworks.
Other key responsibilities will be to:Undertake routine biodiversity and rehabilitation monitoring, including pest and weed management activitiesComplete environmental sampling following standards, prepare and ship samples and correspond with external laboratoriesPrepare and maintain equipment to ensure accurate and reliable data collection and operationProvide in-field contractor management to work groups, ensuring compliance with site Health & Safety requirements as well as ensuring the program specific requirements are achieved Maintain inventory of program consumables (such as seed inventory)Capture environmental data using GPS, drones or other equipmentMaintain data within systems for reporting, following procedures and standards and completing quality assurance and controlsAssist with the verification of works completion against Inspection Test Plans (ITP)Conduct environmental inspections in the fieldSupport other environment functions and group activities on an as needed basis.To be considered suitable you will have:A Diploma or equivalent in Conservation and Land ManagementExperience in land management and/or natural ecosystem restoration projects within large-scale mining, extractive industries and/or civil construction work environmentsBasic Australian flora and fauna identification skillsExperience with sampling (environmental or otherwise)Basic knowledge of environmental laws and regulations and understanding of international practices relevant to mining operations including exploration, environmental risk management, compliance and permittingExperience in managing contractors and small on-site work groupsManual driver's license with experience operating 4WD vehicles and towing trailers Ability to interpret and implement management plans and technical reportsExperience with Quality Management SystemsCompetent skills in Microsoft Office softwareStrong written and verbal communication skills to accurately document conditions in the fieldBased at the Cadia Valley Mine Operation and offered on a drive-in, drive-out basis on a 5/3, 4/3 roster (10-hour workdays) this position will suit applicants currently living in Orange, or near surrounds in regional New South Wales.
