Overview
Senior position: Clinical Nurse Consultant or Psychologist or Occupational Therapist or Social Worker (Mental Health - Headspace), Bundaberg
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with headspace to support a seamless service experience for adolescents and young adults (12–25 years) with Mental Health and Specialised Services (MHSS) needs, accessing headspace services, in line with a no wrong door policy and providing the right service at the right time.
- Maximise clinician availability and build essential relationships by being physically co-located with headspace, as far as practical.
- Provide an important bridge to the broader state health system to improve access and reduce transitional service gaps.
- Establish or embed a dedicated capacity for MHSS clinicians to work across the historical service boundary between child and youth mental health services and adult mental health services.
What we’re looking for:
Clinical Expertise
- Specialist knowledge, skills and experience in evidence-based assessment, diagnosis and treatment of adolescents and young adults (12–25) with serious and/or complex MHSS issues.
- Provision of specialist adolescent and young adult clinical expertise and independent professional judgement based on reliable evidence in a consultation-liaison and clinical in-reach model.
Communication
- Ability to provide mental health clinical advice to professional and operational Supervisors regarding service delivery and improvement opportunities.
Clinical Ability
- Ability to provide care and management to consumers with complex needs, where established principles require some expansion, adaptation or modification.
Leadership
- Broad understanding of the continuum of care and the organisational provision of a multidisciplinary health service across WBHHS and Headspace.
Qualifications
- Nursing: Nursing qualification from a registered tertiary institution or completed hospital training program and Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with current annual practicing certificate.
- Psychologists: Qualification as a Psychologist and Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with current annual practicing certificate.
- Occupational Therapists: Qualification as an Occupational Therapist and Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with current annual practicing certificate.
- Social Workers: Recognised degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and relevant accreditation/eligibility.
- Appointment requires proof of qualification and when applicable registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association; copies must be provided prior to clinical duties.
- Blue Card: Working with children check required; favourable suitability notice from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian; cost covered by Queensland Health.
