College Overview
Benalla P-12 College is located in the Rural City of Benalla, ideally close to the Victorian snowfields and major centres of Wangaratta and Shepparton.
The town is surrounded by quality wineries, national parks, bushwalking trails, fishing and water-skiing on Lake Nillahcootie, and the Murray River only an hour away.
Melbourne is easily reached in two hours along the Hume Freeway, and the Melbourne-to-Wodonga railway line also runs through the city.
Benalla offers a relaxed country-town lifestyle in a supportive, welcoming community.
Established January **** from the merger of all four government schools, the college has a student population of around 700 across three campuses: 400 in primary and 300 in secondary.
Students experience a vibrant, stimulating learning environment from Foundation through to VCE and VCE VM.

Role Overview
The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges: Range 1 and Range 2.
The focus is on planning, preparation and teaching programmes to achieve specific student outcomes, with a continuous cycle of critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills.
As teachers gain experience their contribution beyond the classroom increases, informing policy, mentoring and supporting data-driven instruction.
Selection Criteria
SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of relevant curriculum, incorporating literacy and numeracy skills, and experience responding to student learning needs.
SC2: Experience planning and implementing high-impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating their impact.
SC3: Experience monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform practice, and providing feedback to students and parents.
SC4: Interpersonal and communication skills, establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the wider school community.
SC5: Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning.
Responsibilities
Direct teaching of group and individual students.
Contributing to development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum areas or other programmes.
Undertaking other teaching-related and organisational duties as directed by the School Principal.
Participating in parent-teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
Performing other non-teaching supervisory duties.
Who May Apply
Registered teachers or those eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, qualified to teach and/or with demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum area(s).

Qualification Requirements
The person must have provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
If the person completed an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program or course of study on or after 1 January ****, they must demonstrate successful completion of a postgraduate level accredited initial teacher education program as per the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership standards.
A person who graduated from a Victorian ITE program after 1 July **** must also demonstrate that they passed the LANTITE requirements.
