To lead in the design and delivery of public programs, engaging with Tasmanian Aboriginal Culture, including education services for school groups and the general public, including school holiday programs, and other public programs.

Period of Appointment

Appointment to the role is on a fixed-term, part-time basis (44.1 hours per fortnight)for 12 months.


Duties

* Design, deliver, and evaluate a wide range of Tasmanian Aboriginal public programs, while supporting the priorities, goals and objectives of TMAG.
* Maintain and develop appropriate cultural protocols for the delivery of Tasmanian Aboriginal programs.
* Identify and develop partnerships with external organisations engaged with learning about Tasmanian Aboriginal culture, including but not limited to schools and colleges.
* Liaise with the Tasmanian Aboriginal community to explore and encourage pathways to participate in museum activities, including co-designed programs and initiatives.
* Liaise with the Tasmanian Department of Education, Aboriginal Education Services Unit and schools and colleges to understand current Aboriginal educational priorities, including relevant Closing the Gap initiatives.
* Provide advice and information to TMAG's Tasmanian Aboriginal Advisory Council (TAAC) and the TMAG First Peoples Roadmap Working Group.
* Actively contribute to a team-based approach to program and project development within TMAG's First people's Art and Culture team and TMAG's Public Programs and Learning team.
* In tandem with TMAG Communications, engage with media opportunities and interest in TMAG's Tasmanian First People's educational initiatives and products.

Evidence of the following must be provided prior to appointment to this role, and the person must continue to satisfy the essential requirements/qualifications throughout their employment in this role:

* Aboriginality. The Head of the State Service has determined that this is an Aboriginal identified position. Applicants for identified positions must meet the Tasmanian Government's eligibility requirements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs and services.
* Working with Children Registration The department has identified this position as undertaking child related regulated activities in-line the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013, and the occupants of these roles will require a current Working with Children Registration. * An appropriate tertiary degree or diploma from a recognised Australian institution.
* Knowledge of the operations of a contemporary cultural institution.
